Happy Mother's Day! This is Space Case: How do people not go crazy when you're on the moon with a murderer?
Happy Mother's Day everybody! Last year, I did a post on the middle school series by James Patterson. Today, we have the long-awaited review of Space Case, by Stuart Gibbs. Technically, the main character Dash's mom is a somewhat big part of this story, so I figured I could kill two birds with one stone and I could make this Edgar Alan Poe Nominated (I secretly hate Greenhouse Glass for winning), to be award-winning book on Mother's Day.
Summary: "Aww Crap, the toilet's broken" It's 2:30 A.M. on MBA (Moon-Base Alpha, the first colonization in the history of mankind) when Dash Gibson hears some intriguing news. Dr. Holtz has just made what appears to be the discovery of a lifetime, one that will change the course of mankind forever. And then things go bad. 3 hours later, he has found to have walked out on the moon without properly putting on his suit, effectively killing him. But Dash doesn't think the man has lost his mind. Instead, he thinks murder. With the help of the new girl Kira, they go on an adventure to figure out who killed Dr. Holtz. In this mind-boggling adventure, Dash encounters (virtual) dinosaurs, German computers, re-heated chicken parmigiana, and wealthy billionaire jerks. Who killed Dr. Holtz? Find out when you dive into this exciting thriller by Stuart Gibbs.
What I liked: Just about everything. I mean, exposing space as a boring as heck place instead of all its glitz and glamour it gets from movies makes the book exciting as well as humorous. It had exciting action, as well as funny moments and enough information to make any astronomer happy. You have to love what Stuart has written in this Edgar Allen Poe Nominated thriller.
What I didn't like: Hmm, for this book it's a tough one. Normally, there is some sort of flaw that comes with every book, but for this novel, I have to say everything is written with high vocabulary and an intense plot. The only thing I wish could be changed is the fact that Nina is a bit of a jerk. I mean, crying over eggs? I believe that if Nina had lightened up a bit, and was willing to cope with the fact that there could indeed be a murderer, this book would be better.
Rating on 'the scale': 9 out of 10
Why?: This book can fill the basic needs of about 10 different genres. It is humorous yet informational, exciting yet down to earth (r technically, down to the moon). It is a great book and I would highly recommend it to anybody in need of a thriller.
