KPOP: 8/31/18 Serendipity (Full Length) by BTS 💚

Image
Alright here comes a FAT review of another song from BTS's full album. This was going to be my last review from the album, but as I casually listened to the other songs, turns out, yeah, there's a reason why they are so popular. More reviews to come later on next week, so please be on the lookout for those. Anyways, lets get into the review. Alright so I'm gonna get the main, overall bit out of the way real quick. Let's talk about how freaking amazing Jimin's voice is. Like holy heck, I... just never knew I guess. The vocals in this song really blow me away. Jimin's voice is just so pure and you get that you know good, like passionate? vibe from his vocals (not quite sure of the word, but it was just good). I could go on and on, but just know they are actually amazing. In the beginning, I really love the simplicity of the instrumental. Like it just allows Jimin's voice to shine. But as we get into the song, especially around 30 seconds, the beat changes,

KPOP: 8/30/18 BTS Save Me + I'm Fine (M Countdown)

Alright so wow this has been a busy week. I'll probably end up throwing my serendipity review tomorrow. I was going to post it Tuesday but I figured it is such a good song I really wanna give it a good review. Anyways for Army who doesn't know about this video (it did come up like 17 hours ago) I just wanted to high light it. This is BTS's M Countdown performance of Save Me and I'm Fine. Now if you haven't listened to I'm Fine, all you really need to know is that it sort of has the same intro as Save Me, like you know that little high pitched melody. And it was actually freaking awesome to see the transition of these two radically different songs. The comment in my opinion really make the video. Some are straight forward with their opinions : "that was the smoothest transition I've ever seen", while others are more comedical, such as my favorite "iBigHit has been planning this performance since 1750". Like I really do wonder what th

Week number 4, sort of an in between post between the BTS hype, probably will throw up a review of Serendipity or something tomorrow, but today is SHOUTOUT SUNDAYYYYY woo get hyped. Anyways, today's weekly shoutout is to one of my favorite channels: Pleasant Green. Sounds like a dumb name, but bare with me. This guy's name is Ben and his channel is about exposing scammers. But here's the thing, it's not like those videos you see already where the footage is super grainy and the audio is awful. His videos are like SUPER high quality. Like the camera is sharper than a knife and I'm pretty sure he uses an external mic because it is very quality. Past the quality of the content, the content itself is SUPER entertaining. He has two series, one of which is called "Lie-beria". It's basically about this guy named Joel who originally messaged him trying to scam him, but through the series, we see that Joel is not a scammer, but is just in need of some hel

KPOP: 8/24/18 "Idol" by BTS 💚

Image
They're backkkkkkk and boy did they live up to the hype of the new album. Like actually though, 26 songs is insane. Sure there are some repeats in there but more than half of it is new content (I think, a real count has not been done yet). Am I the biggest fan of BTS? Not really. But it's hard not to like their new song "Idol". Alright so I want to start off talking about the instrumental. Now call me crazy for looking so deep into this, but I just like how the aspects of the instrumental just make it so unique. Like there's whistles, animals, a funky electronic beat, like this isn't the BTS we are used to hearing. But in my opinion I think it was done on purpose, to sort of set the scene for the song if you will. A reading of the english captions has led me to believe that the message of the song is that, well in the words of Jimin "you can't stop me from loving myself". I dunno I just thought that was cool. Into to the song, I like how RM,

KPOP: 8/21/18 (TBT) Oh Boy by Red Velvet💚

WOOO first official throw back tuesday !!! Alright so I've been waiting a while to do a review on this song because I absolutely love it. Was gonna do it on a fun friday but BTS is literally coming back this friday so I couldn't waste it. Anyways just to kinda start of this song, this is part of Red Velvet's first full ish album, titled "Red". Now recently with the release of the perfect red velvet and all that many people have not liked summer magic for Red Velvet not being more "velvet", which in my opinion is like kind of shocking. Obviously I love the velvet side of red velvet but I like practically grew up on Red Flavor so I'm a fan of the red. Anyways, just some opinion. This song is also the most massive bop I have every seen. Like the beat is insanely catchy and you just want to bop your head along to it. It changes up a little but it keeps this really cool and chill vibe to it that is pretty nice. The lyrics also do a good job keeping th

YT: 8/19/18 Shoutout Sunday #3 : Zack Hample

Image
Wooooo end of the first week of school and I am feeling pumped. Anyways here is a little quick appreciation post for one of my favorite sports-based youtubers Zack Hample. So if you even like sports you have to have heard of Zack Hample. For those of you that don't, he is a ballhawk, or a person who goes to baseball games like hours early to catch baseballs before or during games. He has caught 10000 balls in his lifetime including like 50 home runs. It is insane. He is known probably for catching A rod's 3000th hit, but yeah he is kinda famous. Now, I actually got into his videos wayyyy before he hit his subscriber spike after getting all the media attention from catching A rod's 3000th, but it still isn't too late to get in early! He's got like 250000 subs currently and deserves way more. His videos are absolutely stunning. He has a videographer named Brandon that travels with him to all the games and the footage he gets is beautiful. Like we are talking ult

KPOP: 8/17/18 Blackpink Update

Image
Ahhhhh no good kpop songs have come out (I listen to mainstream really) so time to talk about some of the things Blackpink has done in the past month ish. (Well really only two things) The first is that DDDD Japanese version is finally gonna be released in 5 days (the album or whatever). And let me just say if you haven't watched the music video for DDDD Japanese Version you are missing out, the same shots but it just has a different vibe to it, with the new rap sections and all. Secondly, Blackpink house is back! Not even gonna act like I've watched them all I am super behind on the series, but hopin someday I find the chance to binge watch them all. I'll throw a link to the first video down below. Sorry for kind of the dry post hopefully I can squeeze in an extra Saturday post for you guys !!

Quick Update Post

---------------------------------OPEN ME UP VERY IMPORTANT----------------------------- Hey Guys just churning out a quick update post for you guys. So the school year for me starts during the week (yeah I'm not even sure why it is starting ona  Wednesday) so I figured I'd let you guys know and just tell you guys the schedule posting plan I have. Soo there will be posts on Sunday Tuesday and Friday. Sunday will mostly be my "small channel sunday" series where I highlight some cool channels with less than 500000 subs. Tuesday will be my "Throwback Tuesday" where I kinda show off some kpop songs that aren't from this year but are still good (or really any song or book or media not from this year). Friday will be my kpop review day because friday HYPE. Obviously I can post anything else at any time throughout the week so keep checking in an out of my blog just in case you miss an out of nowhere post. Or follow me on twitter (check the

YOUTUBE: Shoutout Sunday #2 Drew Binsky

Image
shoooott I actually forgot about this series but whatever just gonna start it right back up again. SO anyways, this week I wanna highlight Drew Binsky, who, in short, makes travel videos. Drew's channel mostly consists of 2-4 minute videos which are posted almost DAILY, and are kind of vlog type but not really. He lives in thailand currently and his favorite places to travel is southeast Asia so expect a lot of content from there. What's really cool about his channel is how high quality his videos are. His drone shots are stunning, and he can make a fact about a country just really cool. Like the way he portrays the fact/story is just awesome, almost cinematic. Me personally I don't travel a lot, but I'm just naturally curious and it's always awesome to learn something new everyday. Drew's channel is like different from most travel channels, because he really interacts with the locals and just shows how awesome the world is. Check out his channel here:

KPOP: 8/8/18 With You by Red Velvet 💚

Image
Slowing down the post rate as I ease into the school year. Eventually, starting next week, I'm gonna switch to three posts a week just to help accommodate my busy schedule. Anyways here's a quick review of With You by Red Velvet. Alright so a little bit of overall before I dive into the lyrics. This is a slower song than Power Up, but in my opinion it didn't really have the bop feel to it. Like it was almost a bop but it didn't quite hit the right spots. Also there's that classic Red Velvet effect of the electronic autotune voice (like you know the voice in Red Flavor that says red-red velvet; that voice). Also, just to mention, there's a lot of like not xylophone but electronic drum/bongo notes in the back that give it that tropical feel, which I thought was a nice touch. Getting into the lyrics. What I love about the first part of the song is that it gets right to the chorus. No need for a major buildup, especially in a background track. Like just get to t

KPOP: 8/6/18 Power Up by Red Velvet 💚

AHHH SORRY FOR NOT POSTING I WAS JUST GETTING HYPE FOR RED VELVET'S COMEBACKK. But seriously though it was alreadya  good album but adding Bad Boy English version made the album muuuchhhhh better. Here are some quick thoughts on it. So before I dive into the nitty gritty of things, I just wanna say overall I like how they decided to revert back to the old style of just being bubbly and happy and such. Now don't get me wrong I liked the last two comebacks where it kind of had that bad girl vibe, but it was just really cool to see them give their old style a chance, where the lyrics kind of don't make sense, but there's just such a good vibe that you're just happy to listen to it. Alright so we get into the first verse and Irene's entrance was amazing. It was such a good contrast against the first opening bit and sets off the song on such a good mood. And this is gonna be a recurring thing throughout the song, where the line they are singing kind of goes up in

YT: 8/3/18 JHope Makes Drake's "In My Feelings MV"

Image
Some pretty cool content today if you have not heard the news. The in my feelings challenge was a massive social media trend throughout the month of July, and Drake was at the center of it, seeing as his song In my feelings is what the challenge is based around. The challenge reached its peak of popularity when stars such as Ciara or BTS's JHope even joined in on the fun. The music video just came out and is rewarding its fans who did the challenge by having a compilation of some of the more popular videos at the end on the official music video. You can catch BTS's JHope at 7:56 in the Music Video.

KPOP: 8/2/18 Killing me by IKON

Image
So I haven't been the biggest fan of IKON. Sure, I loved Love Scenario and oddly enough Rubber Band, but I don't think I listen ot them enough to be called an Ikonic. So I mean you can take that into consideration during this review, because I feel like if I listened to them more, it would be slightly different. So I forgot what this vibe is called but you know those type of songs that have a smooth feel to it and you can like snap along? Like you know how in havana at the beginning when you can snap to it? Maybe it's just me but anyway it has that kind of back and forth vibe to it. But when Bobby comes into the first verse, I dunno I just don't like how he sings it. Like he seems kind of mundane and almost questionable. The song makes a quick recovery with DK and Jay leading up to the chorus. And the lead up is pretty good, but it's like there's nothing dramatic to it. And then after it drops to the dance break again it feels almost lackluster. It feels
