About this Page// FAQ's

Hey! Thanks for stopping by on my blog, who even knows how you found me, but I'm glad you did, and I hope you stick around. Anyways, a little bit about my website. Essentially, I, Justin (if you haven't figured out by the name) will be talking media (another thing about the name). This website is mostly dedicated to music, most of said music will be kpop, but I will hopefully try to talk about other types of media such as books, movies, TV shows and anything else I come across.

THE REVIEW SCALE

Alright, so a big portion of a review blog is the review scale. And I wanted to distinguish myself from most blogs, but still hit the same points and make it reasonable for the average viewer to consume. I'm gonna divide this portion into two sections which are:

The Content

So there will be two parts of a song I'm going to be reviewing The Instrumental and The Lyrics. There will also be some sort of overall mood or feel conclusion at the end of reach review (hopefully). Like, I see other blogs raving about the line distribution suits the group or wow, this song is a huge metaphor for _____ and I'm like WHO EVEN CARES, just tell me what the song is like, if the lyrics are impactful, and in short IS IT WORTH A LISTEN. That's what I'm here for. IM A TEEN reviewing songs for teens. I' m not some 30 year old dude telling teens to pick up a song. Can that 30 year old man with a degree in music appreciation tell you more about a song than me? Sure. But I'm telling you from a teenage opinion if the song is good.

The Scale

As a homage to my academic regimen, I have structured my review scale similar to the AP grading scale. (Whoaaaaaa no no don't click away it's not boring or anything). What I mean by that is I am grading songs out of 5. Like the AP grading scale, a 3 means that yeah, it is worth the listen, and the song has earned the JTM Heart (the symbolizes love for the song or something idek, but c'mon a heart means good. It also represents the finger heart from korean culture, and I would've used that, but there's currently no finger heart emoji). The JTM heart is like a Michelin star ðŸ’š(it looks like that) where if you see it, you know it's a good song. See, my plans for making my reviews like this is that someday (where my dreams are I'll be like a big music review site) a song ad or whatever will just show the green heart, and you know it's a good song.

Anywho, moving on from that, like the AP scale, a 4 or 5 means, well, it is REALLY GOOD. I'm really trying to be stingy with giving out 5s and stuff so that they aren't devalued, but a lot of the songs I review are fours. They're better than your average joe song, but not something that is a show stopper. And honestly, fours are pretty common AP wise, so it works out.

Now for some of the FAQ's. These questions haven't been asked but I guess these are just things I think you might be wondering.

What Happened to your old website?

So many of you might know me as JustinTalksBooks. If you don't, essentially this website used to be called JustinTalksBooks, and I used to get at one point 1000 views a post. In 6th grade, I got the idea after I LOVED reading. And don't get me wrong, I still do, but sadly, sometimes when you're taking 7 AP classes (as I am next year), it can be difficult to fit in a book every week and feel sustainable doing so. I tried to do it, but I just wasn't happy. However, I realized I still liked giving my opinions, so I turned to another form of media, music. Anyways, now I review that.

What's with all the Kpop?

Korean Pop (KPOP) is my favorite genre of music, and why not review about something that you actually like to listen to. Plus, with BTS coming to the US having a bunch of appearances on awards and talk shows, it seems like there's a growing audience in the US for KPOP, so I feel like it'd be cool if I talked about groups not named BTS that are still incredibly awesome.

What's your favorite genre of music?

Kpop (Boi do you even read look at the previous question)

Why are your posts so informal?

Again, I'm trying to keep this site as relate able as possible. Part of that is talking about a song how I would in real life. Think of my posts like a transcript of me discussing a song with my friend or something. Idk, overall i just think I should worry about the song, not my grammar (although trust me, I am actually a grammar god), but anyways, grammar police, come at me, I could use the views :)

Do you Take Suggestions?

Of course! The best way to suggest a song is to comment on my most recent review. If you wanna email me or something, you can ---> my email is justintalksmedia@gmail.com

Why Are your Posts so Short?

It's the 21st century. Think of us, we want our information fast and quick. Do you read an entire book? No you spark note it. Snapchat had videos in 10 seconds (and even now they're in minute clips which are pretty short). We complain about 15 second YT ads, even 5 second YT ads. Point is, no one wants to read a 3 page times new roman double spaced font essay about why you should listen to a song. My goal is, in as concisely as possible, to tell you all about this brand new, popular song, whether I think it is worth your time, and to give you enough information to allow you to decide if it is worth your time.

Are you biased?

Ok, so real talk here. A review site can go down the drain if the reviewer is biased. And honestly, I really try not to be. But obviously, will I ever be perfectly indifferent. No. And that's the truth. But usually, it's because a genre isn't my cup of tea, it won't be because I disagree with the political values of the artist or whatever. Like take rap for example, I'm not a huge rap fan. I try super hard to grade the song from a rap lover to give it a grade it is worth. So basically, I am 99% unbiased. But don't give me a country or rap song and expect a 5 and be SHOCKED if I only give it a 2 or 3. I try hard to be unbiased, but it'll find its way to seep in.

What Will Happen to All your old reviews?

Obviously it is way too much work for me to remove all my old reviews. They should all be under the bookshelf page, although I'm going through and tagging all of them so give me some time to do that.
